Sleep Game Strong

February 20, 2018 by Suzanne Woodward

Feeling sleepy?

“Practice self-care.” It’s a phrase that we hear often but how do we actually practice it? My approach to preconception self-care can be broken down into 4 general categories:

  1. EAT nutritious foods
  2. DRINK water throughout the day
  3. EXERCISE in ways that work best for my body
  4. SLEEP 7-9 hours a night

The toughest thing on this list for me is sleep. I stay up too late working (and watching Netflix) and don’t always get the amount of sleep I need. And trust me, the next day my body tells me I made a mistake—grogginess, moving slowly, and being grumpy (just ask my co-workers, they know).

Sleep is when our body recovers and recharges. Sleep is essential to our health and wellbeing, especially if your body is getting ready for a baby! So if you’re feeling sleepy, and maybe even a little run-down, listen to your body and get some sleep. Your body will thank you tomorrow.
