Taking care of preexisting health conditions, like heart disease, is especially important if you’re trying to get pregnant. While we often associate heart disease with men, it’s the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
Here are some tips to keep your heart healthy:
- Stay active and work exercise into your weekly routine.
- Get to, and maintain, a healthy weight. Talk to your provider about what’s best for you.
- Don’t smoke and limit how much alcohol you drink.
- If you have health conditions like, high blood pressure and diabetes, talk to your provider about a treatment plan that’s best for you and stick to it!
If you’re worried about your heart health, talk to your provider. Tell her your family health history and that you’re trying to get pregnant—it could affect the type of treatment you get.
